The Civic Hybrid is made to drive like a conventional car, except not.

The outstanding aerodynamics and a lightweight body delivers highly responsive acceleration and sharp handling. The innovative IMA Technology powers the Civic Hybrid, which gives you more miles and economical fuel consumption. And as you’re saving fuel, it also decreases CO2 emissions to help save the planet.

The IMA system runs hand in hand with the i-VTEC engine, generating a combined output of 115PS (85Kw) with 167Nm of torque, which is comparable to any 1.8 class car.

Continously Variable Transmission (CVT)

The CVT allows you to choose the way you want to drive, offering 3 different modes.

Select (D) mode for a smooth, easy drive. The (S) mode gives you that extra kick when you’re driving within urban areas. And the (L) mode limits the amount of changes, so driving over steep hills or towing will become smoother and safer.

And the Drive by Wire (DBW) produce greater response, fuel economy and drivability with minimum adjustment and maintenance.

CVT is fuel-efficient, making the Civic Hybrid even more economical to drive.

Underside Diffuser

The underside diffuser improves the Civic Hybrid’s performance by smoothening underside flow, which provides for less drag effect and good fuel-efficiency.

The double wishbone rear suspension enhances riding comfort by defining the wheel movement during driving to provide maximum accuracy. The MacPherson Strut configuration soaks up bumps and road disturbances effectively, thanks to its long spring travel.

Style isn’t the core of the Civic Hybrid, it’s the details. It’s the little touches that enhance the smooth clean lines, its distinctive headlights, the slanted windshields to its sharply cut-off tails.

The Civic Hybrid is created by the use of aerodynamic science which consists of Center+ Rear Floor Undercover, Engine Undercover, Rear Boot Spoiler and Aerodynamic Wheels. The body is contoured and smooth, which allows minimal resistance from the wind, providing greater stability and lower wind noise without compromising the fuel efficiency.

    The Honda Civic Hybrid provides Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) airbags and front side airbags to prevent head and torso injury. The frontal side airbags also feature an Occupant Position Detection System (OPDS) that determines the height and position of occupants and adjusts the airbags accordingly.

  • Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS)

    On slippery roads, the Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) and the Electric Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) will respond quickly to varying road conditions to retain steering control during braking.


This is achieved through an electric motor installed between the engine and the transmission. It engages as you accelerate or go uphill, boosting engine power until you reach cruising speed. The motor then adds necessary additional power to accelerate. However, at low speed cruise, the car runs on power from the motor alone. As you raise the acceleration, the engine switches to a higher power output and the motor provides a stronger, powerful acceleration.

When it decelerates, the IMA battery will be in recharge mode.

Meanwhile, all the electric power created by the electric motor will be stored in a compact battery box that is called the Intelligent Power Unit. It controls the electricity to and from the electric motor.

An Intelligent Power Unit (IPU) stores electric power in a compact battery box and controls the flow of electricity to and from the electric motor.

The Hybrid Dual Scroll Air Conditioning Compressor

The Honda Civic Hybrid uses a dual scroll air-conditioning system. It reduces the load on the engine by using a combination of engine power and electric motor to drive two air-conditioning systems.

On normal days, the engine-driven compressor acts as the sole source of air-conditioning and the motor-driven acts when the car is idle-stopped.

On hot days, both compressors will provide maximum cooling by using the petrol engine and the electric motor. But, the Honda Civic Hybrid’s idle-stop feature will be temporarily disabled.
